D2 provides a vital resource for young people living on the Newbiggin Hall estate in Newcastle. Over the last 25 years, the project has helped hundreds of young people aged 13 to 25 to overcome the challenges they face and empower them to reach their full potential. Its trusted team sits firmly at the heart of a close-knit community and is committed to ensuring the estate is a better place to live for all.
Offering a safe and nurturing environment, D2 works closely with young people to respond to their needs, develop their skills and grow their confidence. Trained and trusted staff provide one-to-one advice on a wide range of issues, including sexual health and relationships, drugs and alcohol, and education and training.
While its focus stays firmly on young people, the project also brings the generations together. Its activities range from support for new mums to afternoon teas for older people, helping to bridge the gap between the generations and foster a stronger community spirit on the estate.
A constant and trusted presence on Newbiggin Hall, D2 also supports whole families and links with other organisations and agencies who are working to improve life for people of all ages in the area.
“We are delighted with the financial support we receive from the Trust, which enables us to continue our vital work on Newbiggin Hall estate and achieve better outcomes for vulnerable young people in need of our help.”
Angela Smith, Manager, D2

This financial support enables the team to continue their vital work on the estate and to achieve better outcomes for vulnerable young people in need of their help. It sustains the safe, nurturing environment at the project's core — the trusted staff, the one-to-one advice and the activities that bring the whole community together, from young people to new mums and older neighbours alike.
“Angela and the team at D2 are clearly passionate about their work, and we hope this funding helps them continue making a vital difference to young people in Newbiggin Hall.”
